HEKA

My journey as a handpan maker began with a simple dream: to own a handpan after watching a video of Hang Massive on YouTube. Unable to afford one, a friend’s suggestion—“Why don’t you make one yourself?”—sparked an idea that changed my life.

I’ve always had a talent for technical work but lacked knowledge of music theory or instrument-making. However, my years as a professional dancer gave me a deep appreciation for the dedication that art demands. With faith in myself, I took a leap into this craft.

During the first quarantine, my first creation came to life: an E minor 8, which I still keep as a symbol of this journey. For me, making handpans is not just a creative process—it’s a way to help people express themselves through music and bring healing and harmony into the world.

This work fulfills me, and I feel I’m contributing to a better world. Today, I’m proud to be part of the HONA Festival team, supporting Stephanie’s vision. To celebrate, Heka Handpans is donating a D minor “Medusa” 21 for the raffle. Be sure to grab your tickets for a chance to win it!

ONDA

With a heart full of passion and expressive desire, Matteo has forged his path in the world of art. His techniques, developed through personal and patient research from 2013 to 2018, brought him to a pivotal decision. Using water pipe flanges and basic hammers, he began crafting his first sound sculptures; initial prototypes of Handpans that captivated the interest of early supporters. In 2022, he officially launched his professional career as a sculptor.

His close association with the Luigi Tronci Foundation fostered connections with other local artisans. The exchange of ideas, tools, experiences, and new knowledge ignited the artist’s curiosity in various disciplines, leading him to discover the works of emerging artists. This exploration unveiled new boundaries; today’s creations are designed to transcend sound and engage all the senses, inviting a full experiential immersion.

Handromeda

Handromeda was born with a passion for creating absolute fine instruments. The relentless pursuit of constant evolution and creation of new developments is our soul. Vitor Luz, the founder, after seeing a Handpan for the first time in 2011, already knew - like a calling from the singing steel - that this would be his path throughout his life. Handromeda now is making since 2017, the “Handpan Dream '' come true for the people all around the world.

Currently with a larger team, more special people were attracted to Handromeda who share this same dream, all of us creating unique pieces together. Unraveling the mysteries of the art, always questioning what else this instrument can become for humanity. We truly believe in the power of personal transformation that Handpan can bring to people's lives and that's why we work and live…

Handromeda's main vision is to spread the power of the Handpan around the world, in the desire to make it become the most memorable and relevant “Instrument of the Century''. More than directly in the making of instruments, but also in many other actions that support Artists, Handpan related business and projects, Makers and the entire Community.
