Dauda Conteh hails from Sierra Leone in West Africa. From an early age he was a member of the National Dance Troupe of Sierra Leone, with which he has participated in festivals in Africa, Europe and Asia. He is a dancer (african, contemporary, afro-contemporary dance, acrobatics) and percussionist (djembe, dundun).
In this workshop, Dauda will demonstrate and teach West African Dance. Dancing plays an important role in African culture, serving as a vital part of their celebrations, including seasonal festivities, weddings, naming ceremonies and other rituals. The dance involves dynamic movements, singing and clapping, integrating everyday activities and communal life. It also acts as a form of joy and emotional release, freeing both spirit and body. Accompanied by intense grooves with traditional instruments like djembe and dundun, African dance is a profound expression of life.
